the art of henna

Everytime I get henna done, I secretly have a crush on my hands. Just the intricate designs, and shapes seem to have a hidden meaning behind them. Such a cultural thing, but so many are in love with the art of henna, aka the temporary tattoo. This isn’t my first time getting henna, but I am so glad my roomie does it, and SO WELL! It is truly a talent, and an art of capturing a picture on skin. From the dude at the gas station, to co-workers, and the lady at the check-out line, I have bagged a ton of compliments on how truly beautiful henna is. Just a little part of my Indian culture to share with your world. 🙂

Love. Harmony. Peace.

“If there is righteousness in the heart, there will be beauty in the character.
If there is beauty in the character, there will be harmony in the home.
If there is harmony in the home, there will be order in the nations.
When there is order in the nations, there will peace in the world.”

Dear Cinderella, I like your bun.

Ever get tired of running that straightener through your hair, or wish you could just get that extra 15-20 minutes of sleep in? Working in a hospital has taught me to relax and not get up until the last minute until you need to get up. Here’s a great way to wear your hair to work, and keep it out of your face when chaos hits. Now unless it is to make my favorite cup of tea, or watch a little tv..I never give up those extra minutes before going into work. Kudos to my roomie for teaching me this!

All I want for my birthday is a big, bootyyy..JK :)

Most people say that family get togethers or weddings are the best place to meet your significant other. I for one can say that I was fortunate enough to meet my best friend at my cousins engagement party. And yes..he is a guy. Eight years later, and although we may not talk every single day, or even every week, he is one person I can call and just pick up where we left off. Some people say it’s impossible to just be “friends” with a guy, or even that comfortable with a guy as I am. But my friend Jimmy (aka Mani) is the living example, that this kind of relationship can truly exist. I have learned to be able to tell him anything, and know that he won’t judge me for it, and vice versa. Sure, we’ve had our ups and downs like any friendship undergoes. But obstacles thrown in between our friendship has shown to always bring us into each others lives again, no matter the circumstances. I’m taking today to let him know that I will always be there for him as a friend, and that he can count on me. And today also happens to be his birthday, so happy 23rd birthday Mani 🙂
